What it is

Accounts Receivable Financing, explained in plain English

Accounts receivable (A/R) financing is a revolving line of credit secured by your unpaid invoices. The lender advances a percentage of eligible receivables, typically up to 85%, and as your customers pay, the line resets and you can borrow again.

Unlike factoring, A/R financing keeps the invoices in your name. Your customers don't know a lender is involved; you continue to bill and collect. It's the right structure for B2B businesses with long payment terms that want flexibility without selling their receivables.

Compass Lenders is not a lender. We're a Dallas-based advisory firm that places your file with the lender most likely to fund it on the best terms, and we get paid only when your deal closes.

FAQ

Accounts Receivable Financing questions, answered

How is A/R financing different from invoice factoring?
A/R financing is a loan secured by invoices. You keep the invoices, you keep the customer relationship, and you handle collections. Factoring sells the invoices to a third party who then collects from your customer.
What percentage of my invoices can I borrow against?
Typically up to 85% of eligible A/R, with the balance released (less fees) when the customer pays. Final rates and terms depend on the lender and the borrower's profile.
Will my customers know I'm using A/R financing?
No. The invoices stay in your name. Some lenders may file a UCC, but that doesn't appear on customer-facing communication.
What makes an invoice eligible?
Typically: U.S. commercial customer, no offset disputes, under 90 days old, and not concentrated more than ~25% with a single customer.
What does A/R financing cost?
Pricing is usually a draw fee plus an ongoing interest rate on the balance, which is meaningfully cheaper than factoring for most borrowers.
